Cartoons.
As far as the visual arts go, Jake's output has slowed to a crawl in recent years—although he still does occasional design work, as well as the odd cartoon here and there. But cartooning is where Jake got his start in the arts, and it remains one of his favorite visual genres. So much so, that he put together a gallery of his freehand flyers, along with a couple newspaper cartoons he published in 2005. Read more

Big art. Jake's two largest paintings are both currently in Virginia—and leading very different lives. One of them, in fact, is now sixteen paintings.

The Florence notebook. The "unfinished" quality of drawings has a certain intimate, casual appeal, and some argue (with my full endorsement) that it's a valid aesthetic unto itself—sometimes preferable to the shine and public pomp of finished artworks.
